For Athletic Trainers and Coaches
This page is for the person who sees the injury happen, runs the rehab, and gets asked by a parent what to do next. It isn't a pitch. It's what I do, what I take, what I don't, and how a referral works.
What I Do
I'm a Licensed Acupuncturist, NCCAOM Diplomate, in practice since 2015. Most of what I do with athletes is manual: Fascial Counterstrain and myofascial work, with acupuncture when it's useful.
Fascial Counterstrain is the piece worth explaining, because it's uncommon in Michigan. It's a light-touch technique developed by Brian Tuckey, working from a positional release model, applied across visceral, arterial, lymphatic and musculoskeletal systems rather than muscle alone. I've completed training in Foundations, Visceral, MSK-C, Arterial, Lymphatic and MSK-SL.
What that means practically: it reaches tissue that direct work doesn't, and it's low force, which matters with a growing athlete.
Who I'm Useful For
The athlete whose rehab has plateaued. Strength is coming back, range is acceptable, and something still isn't right. Often there's guarding or a pain pattern that doesn't match the imaging.
Areas I work with most: hip, groin and pelvis, including flexor and adductor patterns and post-impact pelvic pain. Knee and hamstring, including recurring strains and anterior knee pain. Shin and calf. Shoulder, neck and upper back, including overhead athletes.
Who I'm Not Useful For
Anything undiagnosed following trauma. If there's been an impact and it hasn't been imaged, that needs to happen first. I'd rather send someone back to you than work on something that should have been ruled out.
Acute fractures, suspected avulsions, anything with red flags.
Feet. I don't take foot work. It's outside what I do well and I'd rather say so.
Return to play clearance. That's your call and the physician's, not mine. I won't give an athlete a timeline or tell them they're cleared.
How Referral Works
Have the athlete call (248) 210-1895 or book online. If you want to talk through a case first, call the office and I'll call you back.
I ask every athlete what their trainer and PT are working on, and I work around it rather than across it.
No referral form, no paperwork on your end. First visit runs an hour and fifteen minutes.
Cost
I'm out of network. First visit is $225, follow-ups $180. A superbill is provided for reimbursement, and HSA and FSA cards are accepted.
I'd rather you know that up front than find out after you've sent someone.
